Two bug-related stories:

During the last day of the mission, it was really painful for me to walk around. So painful that I was limping all day. When I took off my shoes at the end of the day, I noticed that both of my ankles were extremely swollen. Apparently, I had been bitten by cockroaches the night before. I didn't think that roaches could bite. It's a good thing I was surrounded by people in the medical profession. I ended up being on antibiotics over the next ten days. The cool thing about this was when we were at the airport to fly to Cebu, the airport staff noticed my predicament. I was then offered a wheelchair, and we were given priority boarding and seating on the plane.

The other bug incident occured when we were visiting my friends' relatives at Papaya before heading back to Manila. We were lounging around and having some drinks and snacks. The sun had just set, and it was starting to get dark. All of a sudden, a LARGE swarm of moths flew by, pretty much taking up the entire patio area. A couple of my friends started running indoors, but the moths still followed them inside. Unfortunately for me, I couldn't really escape because of the condition of my feet. That was such a strange event. Even the locals hadn't seen anything like that happen before. I think I now have a better idea of how the Egyptians felt during one of their plagues. Anyway, someone mentioned that it might rain soon, and the moths were just trying to keep from getting wet. True enough, it started sprinkling within the hour.
