1000 Hits!
One thousand pageloads since I switched over to StatCounter back in September. The 1000th spot goes to some Navy guys who apparently enjoy watching the Biyahe Tayo video repeatedly. ^_^
Using World66.com in a new way, here's a map of the 26 different countries (so far) that all you guys are visiting from:

I took my car in for a tune-up in preparation for a smog check. I also had something else in the engine checked out. It had been making a loud sound for a while that people thought it was somehow modified. Vroom vroom! Yeah, sure... Anyway, I found out that the exhaust manifold has this big crack around it. The air leaking out through the crack was what was making the sound. It's sort of like how some people put larger mufflers in their cars to allow air to flow out more freely but end up being louder in the process. Ahhh... that manifold will cost a lot to fix. The car still runs fine, but the exhaust is messed up. That means that emissions control wouldn't work properly, and the car is unlikely to pass a smog test until I get it fixed. The mileage is most likely affected, too. I don't know why the designers decided to manufacture the exhaust manifold out of cast iron (which does crack) instead of out of steel like the rest of the engine. Oh well, what can you do...?
The car was making the sound before the accident so the problem isn't due to that. Speaking of which, I saw the police report the other day. It says that the other driver didn't have proof of insurance. I hope my insurance company can resolve the accident situation with her.
No picture this time, but aren't you tired of these car stories yet? Maybe I should have taken a picture of the crack while I was at the mechanic.

My family spent Thanksgiving at my sister-in-law's parents' house. A bunch of us were playing this cool looking boxing game on the PS2 called Fight Night 2004. It was pretty fun... until we figured out how to play properly. Then the game's pace slowed down once people started blocking. But then, it might end up being fun again once we get past that. Still, it's probably the best boxing game I've played since Punch Out. This one is actually intuitive and playable. All others were just blah...
I've also been playing around with software called particleIllusion. It's a cool program that lets you create great looking effects such as fire, explosions, snow, and other things. I took an old Hullabaloo picture and added "Street Fighter"-inspired effects to it. Actually, I used particleIllusion only for the fireball in my hands. Faye's glowing forearm was done through plain ol' Photoshop. At any rate, it looks better than the SLAM video already. I'll try it on video next. The effects look so much better in motion. Well, it's been over two years since the last Anong Sabi Mo? episode. A couple of other guys and I have learned so many things since then. A sequel would probably look awesome. Just the fact that we've moved on to using DVDs instead of VHS tapes already means much better video quality.
(Why does almost every one of my posts have to have a picture now? ^_^)

Rock Harbor Part 2:
Earlier tonight, I picked up Lanie, and we met King, Faye, and some of the youth group at Rock Harbor. To celebrate that church's new building, there were two nights of extended worship yesterday and today. Very cool. The music and singing were also being recorded for a new live worship CD. It was supposed to last only until 9:30pm, but I guess since it was the last night of recording, we all spent an extra 30 minutes singing some of the songs from earlier in the evening. This was cool because there was difference in the worship in the earlier set than from later on. Sure, there was passion in the worship and singing when we started. However, I don't think it compares to the passion and heart for worship present by the time the night was over. The worship leader, Todd Proctor, said that the congregation the night before came ready to worship, but we were leaving ready to worship. I don't know when that CD will come out, but I'll be sure to get a copy when it does. ^_^

Has Anyone Else Seen This?
This morning, I saw a billboard on the side of a bus for the Japanese singing duo Puffy. What the? I didn't think they were still around much less known on this side of the Pacific Ocean. I think I still have a VHS tape somewhere of their 1996 TV debut performance of their first song, Asia no Junshin. So now, it looks like Ami and Yumi are bringing their careers over to the US with a show on the Cartoon Network called Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi. I had to do a double take at that bus. I first thought it was some ad for Hillary Duff. Puffy... Duff... Easy to get them confused.

Q: What is the difference between Prince William and a booger?
A: One is the heir to the throne while the other is thrown to the air.
(Thanks Roman.)
Thanksgiving Sunday School Videos:
Here are the two videos I helped make for a couple of the classes for today's Thanksgiving presentations.
Nursery Class - Forever
This was a big hit with the parents. Some of them are already requesting copies. Haha.
College Group - Dude, Where's My Class?
The College group asked me to help make a video promoting the newly created college class. As some of you recall, the group formerly known as the College and Career group has divided into two separate classes: the College group (with a name yet to be finalized) and the Career group (aka Mosaic). Anyway, this was Roman's video debut. It'll probably stick as the thing most people at church would know him by.
The other classes has some great presentations, too. One of the elementary school classes sang a song. You can see them practicing in one of the scenes in the college video. Another sang a funny song they wrote with their teacher about being thankful for In-n-Out Double-Double burgers, Tapioca Express boba, and other things. The Jr. High class also had a music video with some their testimonies. The High School class had a really funny live skit. Kenzo, you've got Pastor Vince's funny little quirks and sayings right on. Don't be surprised if people start asking you if you've ever thought about being a pastor when you grow up. Haha. For the Career group, we went with dramatic instead of funny this year. Eric edited a great video which I hope to get a copy of soon. ^_^
Other events of the day:
After church, a few of us hung out at Justine's place for a little housewarming gathering. We watched some of our old skits and stuff, both live and video. Ah, memories...
King, Faye, and I then went to Rock Harbor for their evening service held at their brand new building. While we were singing, apparently some pranksters pulled the fire alarm. The crazy thing was the "eeee eeee" siren sound and the flashing lights were still in sync with the music. It took us a while to realize that it was the fire alarm. I thought it was some weird techno thing the worship band was experimenting with. At least the alarm wasn't too distracting during those minutes before they were able to deactivate it.
Oh yeah, afterwards we ate at Denny's with Roman and Andrew. Those guys are so funny. That's where I got the joke at the top from. ^_^

I'm sitting here waiting for a video file to finish rendering. I pretty much can't do anything else on the computer while that is going on. So, in the meantime, I decided to get on another computer and blog a bit. Well, the other day, I drove up to Chino Hills to meet with a videographer that I'll be doing some editing projects for. Now, I have a few miniDV tapes of a wedding he filmed earlier this year. It's up to me to start putting them together. It'll be an interesting part-time job. Compensation is on a project by project basis. So, in order to be comparable to a full-time job, I probably would have to complete one video per week or so. That's possible, if I spend enough hours each day working on it. That makes sense... if I want to be paid for 40 hours a week of work, I would have to put in 40 hours of work each week. If I work on it only from time to time and it takes me a month to finish a project, then by the time I get compensated, it boils down to only about 20, maybe 10 hours a week. Since I'm basically working at home, disciplining myself is probably the hardest thing. I'm thinking that it would be so tempting to procrastinate. It's kinda weird to wake up in your bed and see your "office" only a couple of feet away.
Besides that, I'm finishing up a couple of videos for the Sunday School presentations tomorrow. Two of the classes requested my services. ^_^ I know there are videos from at least two other classes. So, rather than the usual live skit, song, or dance, it could end up being a film festival tomorrow.

Yet another car story:
Haven't had one of these in a while. So this time, my brother borrowed my car Thursday night. At around 1 am early Friday morning, he calls home and tells us that he got into a car accident. He's okay. It totally was not his fault. My car got a little messed up, though. Anyway, my dad and I went to where he was. It turns out that he was in the left turn lane at an intersection waiting for the signal to change. Suddenly, a car travelling down the intersecting street hit his front bumper, leaving a big gash on it and crumpling up the front license plate. The crazy thing was that the other car apparently came from the sidewalk and ended up crossing the intersection through the pedestrian crosswalk. It probably would have kept on going if it didn't hit a pole a few feet away. I drew a really crude diagram that would hopefully help explain the situation better. (Oh my gulay! It's so hard to draw freehand with a mouse.)
My car is the green blob. The other car is the blue one. So you see, the red arrows show how the car somehow got on the sidewalk, grazed my car, and finally stopped at the pole on the other side. The cops came, did a little investigating, and took a report. The other driver seemed somewhat disoriented and out of it. They gave her a sobriety test, but nothing came up. The police let us go while they did some further investigation with her. So I'm not sure what else was going on. In addition to the the scratches on the right side from hitting my car and then on the front right from hitting the pole, her car had even more extensive damage on its left side (?!) from something. I dunno... I'm just glad my brother is okay and that the police didn't think he was at fault either. Oh, and that the car is still drivable.
Moving Day:
I spent pretty much most of today helping Justine move to her new apartment near UCI. I love helping people move. I just don't like the packing part of it. I didn't have to do any of that this time, though. Just a lot of hauling stuff like mattresses, a couch, bed frames, and a really heavy solid oak armoire. ^_^ It was fun. Eric and I tried to bring a bed frame into one of the bedrooms without completely taking it apart. (We had no tools.) It ended up getting stuck in the hallway. There it stayed until Justine's parents came back from their house with tools to disassemble the frame with.
When I got to Justine's house this morning, her mom offered me some breakfast. She had that "Better build up your strength 'cause we're gonna put you to work" look. ^_^ I had some bacon. Her family's vegetarian so it was vegetarian bacon. It was really good. I was thinking, "Are you sure this is vegetarian? Maybe it's real bacon." Her mom was a little surprised that I liked how the bacon tasted. She said that a lot of people say that it tastes like wood. Haha. If wood tastes anything like that, I'll probably be eating wood more often. If anything, vegetarian bacon probably tastes more like the really lean, less fat type of bacon. But I guess bacon still tastes good even if it isn't made out of a dead pig.

The teaser for Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith came out a few days ago. Cool stuff. I won't say anymore. Just watch it.
I also recently saw House of Flying Daggers with Takeshi Kaneshiro, Andy Lau, and Zhang Ziyi. If you're into epic Chinese martial arts films like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Hero, this is another good one. Lots of throwing daggers and other projectiles that do crazy aerobatics and outright defy the laws of physics. It should be coming out next month in the theaters. It might be worth watching in a theater atmosphere.

Weekend recap... on Friday during our College/Career bible study, Pastor Vince was our guest speaker. We discussed the upcoming changes in our church's future especially with a new building in the horizon. One thing that was impressed upon me was asking how we would react if someone "not like us" joins the group. As the church grows, the likelihood of that happening increases. How would the dynamics of our group change if say someone struggling with homosexuality comes in? Or what if it was a former alcoholic or drug addict? Would we retreat into our little cliques or would we reach out to them? Just a thought...
Saturday... Alanie and I went with Faye to a Muslim mosque as a field trip for Faye's Perspectives class. We had a little tour of the place and observed their prayer time. They don't see things the same way Christians do. They don't see Jesus as the Son of God nor do they believe in His resurrection. I'm not too sure, but from looking through some of the literature they gave, I had the impression that they believe Jesus wasn't even crucified or died in the first place. Something about God answering His prayer, "Take this cup away from me." Hmmm... interesting. Hopefully being there would help me understand their point of view and make it easier to share the Gospel with them. Still, it's very important to pray for God's discernment and protection. Without knowledge of the truth, I could totally see how one could be easily swayed just by being there.
Afterward, we had lunch at a Korean restaurant. Beef bulgogi... Yum! They need one of those places down at South Orange County. We then went back to Faye's house. Alanie went home. I hung out for a little bit and watched Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind with Faye and her parents. Weird and confusing at the beginning, but really cool for the most part. It seems to be one of those movies in which you notice more details with each successive time you watch it.
Sunday... Tickets for the children's Christmas musical, The "S" Files, started going on sale today. It's going to be on December 18 at the Woodbridge High School Theater. I'm debating whether I should post the first promo video on this site. Maybe I'll just save it for the DVD. So yeah, Eric and I are putting together a DVD of the musical. Pre-orders are now being accepted. In addition to the coverage of the performance, the DVD is also going to contain the promo videos, some behind the scenes footage of the practices, auditions, and so forth. Hopefully, it'll turn out great.

Smallville comment time:
For an episode featuring Mr.Myxpt Myptk Mxyzptlk (who I never really liked to begin with), last night's episode didn't make that much of an impression on me, at least, not as much as the blatant product placement shots of Old Spice Red Zone. What was up with that? Does Clark have super-powered BO or something?

In other news:
A few weeks ago, I stumbled upon this blog by someone named Chona, who is supposedly a domestic helper in the Philippines. The blog basically dealt with her day to day experiences while working for a rich family in Manila. Some of the funniest writing I've ever seen. So funny that I'm not surprised that the site received ~100,000 visits in less than three months. Por ejemplo...
So here's where I'm getting at. I just had a job interview today for a large cable/internet company. I was supposed to meet someone named, of all names, Chona. I think she was an HR lady. She wasn't one of the people that interviewed me but introduced me to the managers who did. I'm a little relieved she was not one of the interviewers since I could have been thinking of the Chona blog entries the entire time. The interview went okay for the most part. I think it could have been better, though. Darn you panel interviews with your barrage of questions from multiple people. I guess it's sort of like the busy work environment that they were warning me about.
I'm also expecting a call from a wedding videographer. He seems to be a little behind in his projects and needs some help with editing. Just do a couple of those a month, and that's a pretty good chunk of change for a side job.
The Origin of GirlGamer85:
So that Chona thing was not the first time I came across a "name prophecy incident" (for lack of a better term.) This reminds me of when I created the name GirlGamer85. It was an AOL Instant Messenger screen name I made up a few years ago to play a trick on my high school students at the time. I think it was for April Fool's but it went out of hand and continued further than that. So, GirlGamer85 was supposed to be a girl born in 1985 and loved to play video games... hence GirlGamer85. Since it was the year 2000, she was 14 or 15 at a time. She would never reveal her real name, though. There was one time when I was chatting with Josh that I was forced to make up a name. The first name that came to mind was Eunice. I searched some forum for a picture of an asian girl around that age in order to give some credibility to my claim. As far as I could tell, Josh bought it. Fast forward two days later: Pastor Jonathan referred me to one of his co-workers at FEBC. The co-worker needed some help creating a video for her church's big choir performance. Yes, the co-worker's name was Eunice, and that 1 1/2 hour video was my first major project.
Ok, I'm not sure what the point of that story was except a few people have asked me how the name came about. Everyone knows it's me so it already lost its surprise value. It ended up becoming my regular AIM screen name. Regarding the Relina incident from a few days ago, my cousin let me know that his secret's been blown as well. Now some of his friends call him Relina as a nickname. ^_^
For an episode featuring Mr.

Aww. Luckily, I had some of the entries saved, but it is as if a big part of the internet is now missing. Well, maybe I'm exaggerating a little...
Chona: im not crush with sir jeff. heloh? he's pogi but im not crush with him. and its ok if i have a crush in him coz crush is paghanga only but im not crush with him. =)

It ended up becoming my regular AIM screen name. Regarding the Relina incident from a few days ago, my cousin let me know that his secret's been blown as well. Now some of his friends call him Relina as a nickname. ^_^
